“How to learn anything you want in the shortest time possible”

Dr Chloe Baxter is a Paediatric Fellow at Monash Children’s Hospital with an interest in childhood development, autism and parenting. She has a background in education and medical ethics and law.

Nowadays , we understand much more about how the human brain development and how it assimilates information. This one hour session will help you to understand how your brain learns and give you strategies to learn effectively and teach others.

Engaging In Play With Your Child Education

‘Springvale Service for Children is running a FREE 3-week facilitated playgroup for parents and children aged 6 months – 2 years.

 

There will be 3 sessions run over 3 weeks in the multipurpose room at SSC:

Session 1 will cover what is play and the types of play on Wednesday 3rd May, 10am-12pm

Session 2 will explore how to engage in your child’s play, including your role in play as a parent: Wednesday 10th May, 10am-12pm

Session 3 will discuss and explore the use of natural and low cost materials during play with your child: Wednesday 17th May, 10am-12pm

Young Mothers Walking Group

The Springvale Service for Children’s Young Mothers Walking group is a supported walking group for mothers under 25 years of age. The aim of the group is to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of young mothers and their children through the formation of a strong support network and outdoor physical exercise.

The group will involve a weekly walk from Springvale Service for Children to local parks where children can play and mothers can chat before they walk back. Each walk will take approximately 15-25 minutes.

When: Every Thursday beginning April 7th 2016

Where: Group will begin and end at Springvale Service for Children,

23-28 Lightwood Road, Springvale.

Time: 10am-12pm

Immunisation Dates for 2017

Immunisation DAYS for 2017 will be on the following Wednesdays,  10am-11.30am

25th January, 22nd February, 22nd March, 26th April, 24th May, 28th June, 26th July, 23rd August, 27th September, 25th October, 22nd November, NO session in December.

Immunisation NIGHTS will be held on the following Mondays, 4.30pm – 6.30pm

NO session for January, 6th February, 6th March, 3rd April, 1st May, 5th June, 3rd July, 7th August, 4th September, 2nd October, NO session in November and 4th December.

Important information about immunisation sessions

What to bring

  • Baby record book (if you have one)
  • All immunisation records (including overseas records)
  • Medicare card (first visit only)

Reactions to immunisation

It is recommended that you wait at the immunisation session for 15 minutes following vaccination in case any reaction should occur.

If the reaction to the immunisation is causing concern, please contact your doctor or the immunisation provider. If after hours, contact the emergency department of your local hospital, or the 24 hours maternal and child health line on 13 33 29.

Record of immunisation

After attending an immunisation session you will be given a record/certificate of the immunisation. If you have a baby record book, the immunisation will be recorded in the book.  Please ensure these records are kept in a safe place.
